Loss of Faith"I think self-interest and self-will have infiltrated into our American society, and that’s the reason we have so much abuse of people, so much closing one’s eyes to the hurt and pain of so many people who are deprived economically and socially. Basically, it all goes with loss of faith in God, and this starts touching everything in society, naturally. "From these problems stem an awful lot of prejudice and poverty in our country," he continued. "I think our country is beautiful and wonderful and I’m one hundred percent for America. There’s not a better country in the world, but at the same time we can’t close our eyes to the evils and ills within our society. That would be living with blinders. I think we have to constantly emphasize that people respect other people and be open to the hurts and pains of others." |
